Question: “Should a Christian use a Christian dating service to find a spouse?” Answer: The Bible doesn’t talk about dating services. In fact, it doesn’t even tell us how to “date” or “court,” or whatever term we use for the process we use to get to know a potential mate.

The Unfailing Kindness of Christ: Author and speaker Kristin Fry knows the challenges of being a single Christian woman in a community that prizes marriage and family. She gives her perspective on how to date with compassion and integrity—never forgetting that despite our marital status—God has chosen us for His purposes and loves us just as we are.

Welcome to the Jesus Calling Podcast. You probably know me best as D. Well, I grew up with a mom and dad, a brother and two sisters. And so some friends had invited our family to church, and that was the first time, which has been a huge part of my life now. It was just like another title in my life. But in my early 20s, my faith really became my own, and I wanted to really know Jesus and have a relationship with God. And the world really will tell you who it thinks you should be.

And what has kept me the most grounded is my faith in Jesus.

Answer: Although the words “courtship” and “dating” are not found in the Bible, we are given some principles that Christians are to go by during the time before marriage. The first is that we must separate from the world’s view on dating because God’s way contradicts the world’s (2 Peter ).

Elwell claims that Christian theologians view all the other roles of Christ as falling under one of these three distinctions. Prophet Christ is the mouthpiece of God as the Prophet, speaking and teaching the Word of God, [5] infinitely greater than all prophets, who spoke for God and interpreted the will of God.

Is Online Dating Good for Christians

I still remember the day my best friend and I were hanging out, complaining about dating and boys and life in general, when we decided we were gonna go for it: We did it at the same time, clicking through the questions and giggling as we were trying to figure out what to put in our profiles, what pictures to use, sifting through a world of unknown. How old am I willing to date? That whole week we were texting each other screen shots of awkward conversations, updating each other on how it was going.

The first time I tried online dating, I found it to be incredibly freeing. Once upon a time, this was my Hinge I think?

Did a historical Jesus exist? The power of faith has so forcefully driven the minds of most believers, and even apologetic scholars, that the question of reliable evidence gets obscured by tradition, religious subterfuge, and outrageous claims. The following gives a brief outlook about the claims of a historical Jesus and why the evidence the Christians present us cannot serve as justification for reliable evidence for a historical Jesus.

All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness’ own knowledge. Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And God separated the light from the darkness.

Professor King was to present a paper on the discovery today at an international conference on Coptic studies in Rome after conducting extensive tests and research to establish the document’s authenticity.

Its significance instead lies in the possibility that an early Christian sect drew spiritual succour from portraying their prophet as having a wife. This representation of Jesus as a man with earthly passions and needs has not survived in the doctrines of the established churches, which emphasise celibacy and asceticism as a spiritual ideal. Professor King’s interpretation of the text are based on the assumption that the fragment is genuine, a question that is by no means definitively settled.

To authenticate the papyrus, Professor King sent photos of it to AnneMarie Luijendijk, a professor at Princeton and an authority on Coptic papyri and sacred scriptures. Known for his conservative assessments of the authenticity and date of ancient papyri, Professor Bagnall nevertheless confirmed that he believed the document was genuine.

The scribe’s dialect and style of handwriting, and the colour and texture of the papyrus, helped them to date it to the second half of the fourth century AD and place its probable origin in upper Egypt. The details of the fragment support another view of the life of Jesus that has begun to gain traction since the discovery of a cache of ancient manuscripts in Nag Hammadi, Upper Egypt, in

The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks sense. The wise lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool brings ruin near. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.

The Bible describes and gives directions concerning friendship. But for most, the issue of dating involves “romantic attraction and desire.” Therefore “dating” must be approached by what the Scripture says regarding romantic desire and marriage, the only relationship in which romantic desire is .

During this process, Mother Therese’s body was found to be intact, 63 years after her burial. This unusual occurrence was reported in the news and has led many people to want to learn more about this beautiful Carmelite foundress. AS OUR STORY unfolds, it will be readily understood that Mother Therese was indeed a very remarkable character and it is likewise true that once you met and spoke with her you could not easily forget either her or the winning charm of her personality.

She was in truth the soul of her community. Beneath her modest reserve there was a simplicity and a gentleness of disposition that was evident in all she said or did. She knew how to be firm when the occasion demanded, but she was over-merciful rather than severe. Despite her mild temperament, she possessed a heart that was all on fire with zeal for God and her Order, so that she could truthfully say: It is said that the eyes are the windows of the soul and from out the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh!

There was the sweetest reflections of peace in the eyes of Mother Therese and since she had learned to keep her interior in order from tender childhood, her deep spirituality could not but reveal itself even in her very countenance and she showed, unknowingly however, that her heart was immersed in Him Whom she loved above all. The refinement of her person, her extreme modesty, and the gentle dignity with which she treated persons and affairs, together with her extraordinary business capacities, gave her all that one would wish to find in a Foundress and an exemplary religious.

The purity of her gaze and the peacefulness which she constantly endeavored to maintain around her, gave a sweet and heavenly expression to her features, which were not beautiful but singularly attractive, so that one felt instinctively drawn to her. Her eyes were grey-blue, rather deep-set and penetrating, but clear and innocent as those of a child. They would sparkle merrily and light up with pleasure, and she could make her nuns laugh gayly too. She liked her nuns to be always happy, always ready to smile, and if anyone of them would sadden over some trifling occurrences, she would remind her sweetly:

Donuts & Dating: The Question of Online Dating

A podcast listener named Nathan writes in to ask: A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives, but if her husband dies she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. So a Christian is not free to marry outside the Lord. Or 2 Corinthians 6: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. So biblically the bottom line for the follower of Christ is: Will you marry only a believer.

And what saddens me, Tony, is how many believers get so entangled emotionally with unbelievers that they either throw away their convictions or they stand on their head to see the other person as a believer when he is not. So let me make it a little more precise.

When I was single, I remember wishing there was an entire book of the bible dedicated to the topic, or at least even a chapter. But though Scriptures are filled with foundational life-changing truths, there are still some topics that are left untouched when it comes to finding a biblical perspective. Even today in the cultures of the Middle East, dating is a relatively new concept.

Jesus said no one can be his disciple unless they take up their cross and follow him. The Christian man or woman who wants to marry a follower of Jesus must look for a spouse who has learned what it is to die to self in allegiance to Jesus.

Gospel of Thomas (Lambdin Translation)

Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage “But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Well, what does Jesus say, for that is really all that matters for those who are his disciples. Let’s first sum up principles regarding the marriage relationship that I glean from Jesus’ teachings.

Major or Key Principles:

That said, let’s take a look at what the Bible says about romantic relationships. The Bible does not actually mention the terms “dating” and “courtship”, but we can definitely find some principles about relationships that will help us understand what’s up with this touchy subject.

There should be a balance, as we remember that God is perfectly loving Ephesians 3: God uses our choices, other people, and sometimes even modern technology, to bring about marriages. Is it possible we are being too picky, looking for the fairy-tale prince or princess, and by doing so, limiting the possibilities of what God may know is best for us and which we have not yet considered?

Are we not being picky enough, forgetting that God calls all Christians to marry only other Christians 2 Corinthians 6: A Christian man should take the lead in relationships and making sure their relationship glorifies Christ in all things. A Christian woman should let the man take the initiative as the leader God made him to be. And, finally, as believers, we should be able to stand on our own two feet, relying on the Lord to fulfill us rather than feeling a need to be married in order to be whole.

Once we have these common struggles sorted out, we can begin to pursue a woman, or be pursued by a man, with an eye towards marriage.
